Liberte, Egalite, Fraternite - Paris !.
Liberte, Egalite, Fraternite - Paris !.Part One - The Latin Quarter and 7th Arrondissement.
Paris of all the great cities, hardly needs introduction. For those of us yet to set foot in the city of lights,
it is a beacon of artistic, and literary endeavour, emanating from the cafes of the Left Bank after the wars.
No other city captures the 'romance' of Paris.
Modern Paris is a city of many layers, a cosmopolitan city at the forefront of fashion, design and the arts.
Artists, Musicians and writers still visit, to be inspired with creative energy, not edgy, street-wise like London, but a more artisanal and flamboyant creativity.
The famous Hotels are lavish in their Empire spirit or extreme French minimalism. The best restaurants house talent of the most innovative chefs. Grand old fashion houses still line up on the Faubourg St-Honore and the
Champs-Elysees, all the new names around the Marais, the Bastille and Montmartre heaving with young designers and backroom ateliers, reinventing, revitalising. Paris is truly a city of the flaneur, an aimless wander brings rewards around every corner - an exquisite boutique, an enticing cafe.
The Latin Quarter - is where Paris's first university was founded in the 12thc. Latin was the language of learning giving its name to an area focused on enlightenment.
